Burns Centennial Festival 1859 - Songs, Tunes Speakers

This amazing document from Toronto, is a broadside advertising a Burns Supper at St. Lawrence Hall in 1859. That year was the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns. The original is in the Toronto Public reference Library. Check the "eve of confederation" all-star lineup:

John A. MacDonald

George Brown

Thomas D'Arcy McGee

William Lyon Mackenzie (who was an old man at that point and once again respectable)

There is also a great run-down of the songs and tunes that will be enjoyed over the course of the evening.
