Reel No. 17 - Niel Gow's Wife

Untitled in the Allen Ash Manuscript - Cobourg, Circa 1850.

In other sources this tune is presented as a strathspey - often in G minor and is known as "Niel Gow's Wife" or Niel Gow's 2nd Wife". It has been variously attributed to Daniel McLaren and (in the Skye Collection) to Duncan McIntyre.

The audio file linked below features the tune at the beginning of a medley of tunes from the Allen Ash Manuscript by Anne Lederman and Ian Bell (Muddy York) recorded in 1984.
