Untitled Jig or Air (Summertime)


From the Allen Ash Manuscript. A jig, or maybe a slow air, this could be just a fragment of a tune. It somewhat resembles an Irish air recorded by the Chieftains which they called "Summertime" The folk duo Muddy York included this melody in a couple of their arrangements on the 1984 lp "Scatter The Ashes"

There is a link to one of them below. It is played on a set of highland parlour pipes made by Alexander Glen in the 1850s.
