FUN FOR THE MILLION - Toronto Show 1858

Text transcribed from a poster in the Edward Miller Collection at the Toronto Public Library. This show was at least partly a minstrel show. "Cool" Burgess, who takes a prominent part in this show was a Yorkville (Toronto) entertainer, who became quite famous in the world of blackface minstrelsy. Redmond, Burgess and Thompson also appear in a number of other playbills from the period. I reset it here in the style of a 19th century playbill strictly for my own amusement. I have also included some additional information about Cool Burgess.
