Amateur Brass Bands were a staple musical activity in small town Ontario from the middle of the 19th century until a century later. There are still quite a few around in 2024. The PDF contains pictures of six of them. Some are more serious than others. There was atype of group called a "Calathumpian Band" which was basically a clown band for parades and such. There are a couple of these groups in the pictures.
