The Downfall of Paris - Also known as “Ca Ira” this is a French march and song that found its way into the English military music repertoire with a new name, during the wars of the Napoleonic era. It was well-known everywhere and evolved into the Appalachian fiddle tune “Mississippi Sawyer”. Its drum beatings are still used for teaching the rudiments of traditional snare drumming.
