Speed The Plough - Speed the Plough is a common tune often played in the key of A. There are many different ways to play the B part. It’s often thought of as an archetypal melody that has spawned many other tunes over the years. Its offspring may include “Roxburgh Castle”, “Whiskey Before Breakfast”, and “Angus Campbell”. The title was a popular a catchphrase meaning “success to the farmer” It appears on 1830 halfpenny coins issued by the Bank of Upper Canada.
