Harriston Quadrille Books No.1
Source: Flea Market in Mar Ontario
Composer: N/A
Region: South West
Circa: 1849-1900
Year: 1880

I found these American tune books in a flea market in Mar, Ontario. (on the Bruce Peninsula) They seem to have come from a dance band in Harriston (not too far south of that) Some are backup parts for fiddle tunes - for 2nd fiddle and clarinet, and may give a hint as to what a dance band might have sounded like in Ontario in the 1880s. One of them had lost its cover and has a replacement made from a poster advertising a local leather goods shop. As well as the printed music some of the books had manuscript tunes inserted between the pages. These are just the covers. (scroll down to see all four) There are more examples of the music in an entry called "Harriston Quadrille Band Books No. 2".
