A melody used for a "retreat" tune. This tune is also known as "The Jolly Gay Pedlar" or "The Jolly Pedlar's Jig". It appears under these and other titles ("I'm The Boy For Bewitching Them") in many 19th and 20th century sources, including the Allen Ash Manuscript, Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes, and O'Neill's Music of Ireland. I have never seen it notated except in 9/8 time, but here the tune has been forced into 6/8 - albeit without any real damage to the tune. I'm guessing this was just a transcription error. I've re-written it in 9/8, without changing any of the notes, by way of comparison. 9/8 actually is more typical for a "retreat" - they are almost always in some triple time signature.
