Professor Henry Chalaupka was an important figure in the musical life of the Cobourg / Port Hope area in the mid 19th century. He led several bands and taught music. He also led the band of the Queen's Own Rifles.
He is well-documented in newspaper articles in the Cobourg Sentinel. Here's one example - March 22, 1862 - St. Patrick's Day In Cobourg ... "The Procession was headed by the union jack and the celebrated Cobourg Ist Prize Brass Band under Professor Chalaupka".
