Joe’s “Hornpipe” Did-Not Café Queen's Wedding as played by Tommy McQueston. Also known as "The Swallowtail Reel" or "Pride of The Ball". It was recorded by Brian Pickell on his trusty Marantz cassette recorder at Tommy's house in Toronto. Kate Murphy is playing piano and I'm on guitar. The three of us used to play for square dances at the Buttonville Women's Institute. This was recorded in 1980-something, which means that Tommy was also 80-something. He was born in Northern Ireland in 1902, but loved Scottish fiddling above all else. He came to Canada as a young man. Tommy was a groove master. The rhythm in his playing just couldn't be beat. See the obit. below from Fiddler Magazine for Tommy's full story.
