Jackie Washington sings "Keep A Hammerin" - the second song in this medley
Jackie Washington's ancestors came to Hamilton, Ontario at about the time of the American Civil War. Jack said he learned this song from the singing of his Grandfather and Uncle. It seems like a parody of a Jubilee or gospel song. It sounds religious until it gets to the insects in the 2nd verse. Strangely the only other version of this I've ever heard was on a cylinder record by The Peerless Quartet (a popular white vocal group of the very early 20th century)
