Sundridge Jig - "Smash The Windows"
Source: Allan B. Sly
Composer: Trad.
Region: Central
Circa: 1900-1949
Year: 1933

This tune was noted down by Allan B. Sly at a square dance in Sundridge, Ontario and sent to the English Folk Dance & Song Society where it was published in their journal in 1933. The fiddler who played it is not identified. It's basically the jig "Smash the Windows" which goes back the 19th century, but also seems to contain a bit of musical DNA from "Haste to The Wedding" in the first part of the tune. It's also written out in C rather than D - which both those tunes are usually in. I wonder if the fiddler had his fiddle tuned down a step. The F# is a curious touch as well.
