Bridget From Washago The action in this local song takes place between Barrie, Ontario and Washago at the top of Lake Simcoe. There is also a side trip to Gravenhurst, further north on Lake Muskoka. The stated reason for the trip was to help build a bridge in Washago. It was pointed out to me that thematically, it's like a low-budget remake of the famous song, "The Lakes of Ponchartrain". It was recorded by LaRena Clark in the early 1960s. Please note a typo in the second verse, it is actually her "cheeks" that were cherry red - not her eyes!
