Song
1837 - Farewell To Mackenzie
Source: Singing Our History - Fowke
Composer: Anon.
Region: South Central
Circa: 1800-1849
Year: 1837

From Canada’s Story in Song by Edith Fowke She credits a book entitled The Life and Times of William Lyon Mackenzie – Lindsey. It might have been originally published in a newspaper or on a broadside. In Edith’s book it is set to an adaptation of the pipe tune “Bonnie Dundee” – seems as good achoice as any. In 1832 William Lyon Mackenzie travelled to London to present the British parliament with theconcerns of Upper Canada’s reformers who were fighting for responsible government in Upper Canada.
