LaRena sings "The Rifle Boys"
“The Rifle Boys” is a Canadian iteration of an earlier British broadside ballad published as “The Lancashire Lads” and “The Rifle Boys”. It may come from the time of the Fenian raids. (1866) The baffling mention of an “accordion drum” is likely a corruption of “corded drum” – a military rope-tensioned snare drum with a braided “drag line” hanging down from it.
