George Wilkins Bennett 1831-1892 George Wilkins Bennett was a blacksmith and fiddle player, born in Chedzoy (Somerset), in the UK. In 1874 he moved his family to Canada and in 1876 bought a hundred acre farm, near Midland. His book contains a mix of tunes mostly from the British Isles along with a number of minstrel-era American pieces. There are also a number of hymns, written out in parts, suggesting that he may have played in a church band. I have only transcribed some tunes at this point. I will add more as time permits.
